Welcome to
Golden Thread at The Hive
A space for community, healing and growth.
Golden Thread is a Cornwall based organisation offering a space for growth for individuals, groups and community. We are based in a beautiful space called the Hive in West Penwith and host a range of practices, workshops, training and ceremonies. Our ethos at the Hive is to create a safe space to explore what it means to be human.
The Hive-Our Story
The Hive came into being almost 3 years ago without plans or intentions just an unexpected blessing
Maria and Graham have been a couple for 13 years and have 3 adult children between them and one beautiful granddaughter!
Maria has worked and trained as a BACP Psychotherapist specialising in trauma, a yoga teacher, Cacaoista, Ceremony facilitator and Shamanic Practitioner. She studied Bee Shamanism, Lakota Red Path, Peruvian Q’ero teachings and Physical Darkness as a initiatory tool.
Graham is a Public Relations and Marketing Consultant. More recently, through his own journey, he began to take part in ceremony, received Lakota Fire keeper training in Colombia and studied the Lakota Medicine Wheel. He now assists in ceremony, couples work with Maria and is developing a men’s monthly Sacred Fire group.
Within a week of them moving into the Hive, the work began and over the past 3 years a beautiful community of people of all ages and walks of life as well as a team of experienced practitioners has formed creating a strong ethos and support system in Well-Being and Community.
The whole team embody a passion for the lands of West Penwith and work in harmony with nature, the sacred and embodiment to bring about change, healing and growth of community
We welcome you to come and join us!
We aim to support our local community and the wider community. We offer concession prices whenever possible to make our work accessible to everyone especially those in and around Penzance.

MeetMaria
Maria is a trained Psychotherapist, Shamanic Practitioner and qualified Yoga teacher.
Growing up in South East London in a Mystical Christian tradition, at 18 Maria went to live in an ashram in India, learning yoga, meditation and both hindu and buddhist traditions. From there she went to live in a mountain village in Spain where she spent 11 years working in alternative education, as an outdoor activities monitor and translator and bringing up her son Andreas. In 2009 Maria felt the pull of West Penwith in Cornwall and made her way to Penzance.
She trained in Psychotherapy and as a Yoga teacher before working for 12 years as a Resettlement worker, manager and trauma specialist for a Women’s refuge and a number of Psychotherapeutic organisations around Cornwall. Over this time she also worked with children, teenagers and adult survivors of sexual abuse for First Light, Child and Young People's bereavement charity Penhaligon's Friends, Xenzone and Mental Health providers.
In 2018 after 4 years of working with the medicine of cacao and in ceremony, Maria took the step to begin her training in Shamanism going on to work with different teachers and traditions. This work and training continues.
